VELA - blue electric
Re-cycled waterproof raincoat
Electric blue, waterproof rain jacket Vela, with its with all-over Takaturna tone-on-tone jacquard design, is made in recycled certified Econyl®, (with eco-friendly fluorine-free treatment) a regenerated nylon fabric invented in Italy by Aquafil and derived from plastic bottles, fishing nets etc. which would otherwise pollute our oceans.
Vela is lightweight and water-resistant. The internal seams are sealed with contrasting colour tape to waterproof the seams. It has a hood with a small visor, side pockets with zips, a completely waterproof central double-ended zip and adjustable drawstrings on the hood and the hem at the back to reduce volume if desired.
Magnetic strips have been inserted into the cuffs creating a pleat so that they can be tightened or loosened by the wearer.
The inside pockets are made with a 100% recycled nylon sail bag.
Vela has been cut using Takaturna’s unique kinetic cutting system, creating volume to give the wearer extreme ease of movement.

is transparent in its green approach
We are selective with our suppliers and minimize internal energy use and waste. However, sustainability for Takaturna means much more. If you keep wearing a garment for several years and then gift it to someone else, you are not only paying us a big compliment, you are also helping keep the planet healthy.
To be completely transparent, we have evaluated each component of each garment and assigned them a percentage of sustainability. The assessments can be based, for example, on the use of recycled products or on the fact that their eventual disposal does not pollute the atmosphere. The beauty and performance aspects of fabrics, trims, dyeing and finishing are of prime importance to us, however, when we make our selection, we are always striving to improve and this is reflected in our sustainability indexing.
